1994 Corvette

This Torch Red 1994 six-speed Corvette classic C4 styling with the improved drivetrain and interior of the later cars.

• Strong LT1 V8: The 5.7-liter LT1 produced 300 hp and 340 lb-ft—serious performance in 1994. It could reach 60 mph in roughly five seconds and approach 160 mph.
• ZF six-speed manual: This sturdy German-designed transmission makes the car much more engaging than the four-speed automatic. It also uses a performance-oriented 3.45 rear axle.
• Manuals were the minority: Only 6,012 of 23,330 Corvettes, about 25.8%, received the six-speed. Of those, 4,779 were coupes and 1,233 were convertibles.
• Refined late-model C4: For 1994, the LT1 gained sequential-port fuel injection and mass-airflow engine management, improving response, idle quality and drivability.
• Updated interior: Chevrolet added a passenger airbag, redesigned seats and door panels, a new steering wheel and an express-down driver’s window.
• Iconic color: Torch Red was the most popular 1994 color, with 5,073 built. It isn’t rare by itself, but it is arguably the color most closely associated with the Corvette.
• Analog driving experience: The C4 has hydraulic steering, a low cockpit, a removable roof on coupes and far less electronic intervention than a modern Corvette.
